Happy New Year!!

Happy New Year 2018!

Just like that, we have an entirely new year upon us full of promise, opportunity and hope.

I hope that every one of you is waking up this morning feeling great and not like you partied a bit too much last night. The last thing you want to do is to spend the first day of a new year laying on the couch recovering from bad decisions. That doesn’t set the stage for a good 2018 now does it?!

So, this is a blog about health and fitness and this is the first day of a new year. So, of course, I need to talk about New Years Resolutions. Have you settled on any resolutions yet? Is health and fitness on the docket? What are you going to do to make your fitness goals a reality?

A goal without a plan is just a wish.
Antoine de Saint-Exupery

If you are going to improve your health and fitness in 2018, you have to do more than say it. You have to commit to it. Set a goal (a SMART goal). Build a plan. Tell people about it and have them hold you accountable. Don’t try a fad diet or to give up something you love to eat/drink. If your resolution is is going to work, it has to be a commitment with a plan and not a just wish.

My 2018 New Years Resolution is to commit to continuing to prioritize my fitness journey by applying my Operation Melt fitness plan.  I will continue measuring everything that I consume, my calorie burn and all of my other KPIs.  Plus, in 2018, I want to participate in my first organized run – probably a 5K.  Also, I want to build a solid workout routine for the gym with the help of a personal trainer.  Finally, I want to find some organized fitness classes to start joining… yoga?

I have some other goals for the year that aren’t related to fitness, but I am not going to share them all here since they are a bit off-topic.  Plus, some of them are things that I don’t necessarily want to put out in public.

Best of luck with your 2018 goals and here’s wishing you a safe, happy and productive 2018!
